Life delights in life.

私のヒーローでもあるイギリスの詩人、
ウィリアム・ブレイクの詩の一節です。

この言葉は、
たくさんの疑問を私たちに投げかけます。
人生をどう定義するか。
喜びとは？
人生は、自分が生きる生活に光をもたらすのか。
それとも、自分のまわりの
命たちのことを言うのか。

最初のピルグリムをブルックリンに開店したとき、
４つの言葉をブランドの核に据えました。
アート、人生、仕事、余暇。
現実的には、
自分が喜びを感じることを仕事として選び、
それに人生を捧げていれば、
この４つのコンセプトは切り離すことはできません。
自分の生活、起きている時間の大半を、
仕事に費やすからです。
けれど、この言葉が教えてくれるのは
バランスの大切さです。
力を抜き、いつもの世界から離れて、
自分自身の考えを形成する場所に
自分の身を置くことです。
ピルグリムを、やってくる人が、
新しいことに挑戦したいと思うような、
また自分の境界線を発見し、
それを超えたいと思うような
インスピレーションの場所として作りました。
一枚の服、楽曲、アート作品といった、
小さなことを味わうチャンスを作りたかったのです。

京都は、サーフショップをオープンする場所としては、
変わっているかもしれません。
内陸にあって、ビーチからも遠い場所です。
けれど、サーファーはどこにでもいます。
ハイキング、クライミング、キャンプを楽しむ人たちも。
こうしたアクティビティは、
都会に暮らす人たちが夢見ることです。
都会の暮らしを生き抜き、
前進するための理由を与えてくれることです。
こうした瞬間のために、生き、働くのです。
ピルグリムが、
こうした感情を味わうための場所になりますように。So English poet and

This phrase asks us many questions.
How do you define life?
What is delight?
Does your life delight in life you are living?
Or life around you?

When we opened the first Pilgrim shop in Brooklyn,
we placed four words at
the core of the brand's philosophy.
Art, life, work and leisure.
These four concepts are often intertwined when
you dedicate your life to work that you find joy in.
You spend most of your life,
every waking hour you have working.
But it is all about the balance.
It is about finding the time to decompress and
put yourself in a place
you can have your own thoughts away from
your normal surroundings.
With Pilgrim, we wanted to create an environment that
inspires people to try new things, and
find their own boundary and go over them.
We wanted to give people the opportunity to
appreciate subtle, small things such as a garment,
a song, or a work of art.

Kyoto is an unusual place to open a surf shop.
It is inland, far from the beach.
Still, you find surfers everywhere.
And those who enjoy hiking, climbing and camping.
When you live in the city,
these activities are what you dream about,
keep you alive,
and give you the reason to push forward.
You work and live for that moment.
I hope Pilgrim Kyoto will be the place
people can come to just to get the feelings of it,
