"Studies Of Eden"はロサンゼルスのアーティスト ロビー・サイモンの新作展。
展示のタイトルは、作家の生涯の故郷であるカリフォルニアにちなんでおり、内側と外側からみたカリフォルニアを考察・検証することを目的としています。
サイモンは、カリフォルニアを素晴らしくも難しい場所と考え、美しさと劣化が常に対照的な風景を作り出している場所だと話します。手付かずの自然の雄大さは、増大し続ける課題に直面しながらも、反抗的に立ち向かいます。
この展示は、自然と調和した、あるいは自然から離れた有機的な形態を、自生色と毒性色の両方を用いて抽象的に表現。これらのドローイングは、スモッグで強化された色ではじける輝く夕日や、ダウンタウンのフリーウェイの脇に生える不屈のワイルドフラワーを見たときの感覚を抽出しようとするものです。

"Studies Of Eden" is a new exhibition of works on paper by the Los Angeles artist Robbie Simon.
The title refers to the Artist's lifelong home of California and seeks to examine it from the inside, looking out. Simon considers California a wonderful yet difficult place, a constantly contrasting landscape of beauty and deterioration. California's raw grandeur stands defiant in the face of ever-growing challenges. The work aims to abstractly convey organic forms both in harmony with nature and out of it, with colors both native and toxic. These drawings attempt to distill the feeling when seeing a radiant sunset bursting with smog-enhanced colors or an indefatigable wildflower growing off the side of a downtown freeway.

"Studies Of Eden" is the artist's second solo exhibition in Japan after a 2019 showing at Pilgrim Surf+Supply in Tokyo.

Robbie Simon is an artist living and working in Los Angeles, California, known for his minimal abstract graphic compositions with bright contrasting palettes. Simon uniquely intertwines the worlds of fine art and commercial art. He has had solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, Norway, Tokyo & Bali, Collaborated with brands such as Nike, New Balance, Salvatore Ferragamo, Coachella & Vans, and created imagery for dozens of musicians including Allah-Las, Kevin Morby, Fleet Foxes & Patti Smith.
